Who we are
Abhyas Languages is published by Abhyas Experiential Learning (developer name on Google Play: Abhyas Languages). The Android package is com.abhyas.tomodachi.languages. Courses inside the app include Nihongo Tomodachi (Japanese) and Deutsch Buddy (German).

What we collect
We collect information needed to run classroom language learning:
- Account. Name, email address, password (stored hashed by our sign-in provider, not in plain text), and a user ID.
- Classroom membership. Class codes, institute or classroom IDs, role (student or teacher), and course enrollments.
- Learning activity. Lesson progress, answers, scores, assignments, hints, and similar practice records.
- Speaking practice. Audio is sent to our servers so we can score pronunciation. We keep scores, transcripts, and technical metadata. We do not keep the raw recording after processing.
- Support. Emails you send us, including account-deletion requests.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use this data for advertising. We do not ask for your precise location, contacts, or payment card details in the student app.
Why we collect it
- Create and sign in to your account.
- Join a classroom and show the right course.
- Save progress and let teachers review work.
- Score speaking and writing practice.
- Keep the service secure and working.
Who can see it
Teachers and institute admins linked to your classroom can see your name, progress, and submitted work. We use service providers who handle data on our instructions:
- Account sign-in and database hosting.
- Speaking and writing evaluation services.
- Website and application hosting.
Data is sent over HTTPS. Processors may store data in regions they operate, including outside your country.
Children
Abhyas Languages is built for institutes and learners aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have an account for a child under 13, email us and we will delete it.
How long we keep data
We keep account and learning records while the account is active so progress and classroom reporting still work. If you ask us to delete your account, we follow the process on the Delete account page, usually within 30 days, unless a short legal or security retention is required.
Uninstalling the Android app does not delete your account or classroom records.
Your choices
- You can sign out in the app.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data. See Delete your Abhyas Languages account.
- We do not currently offer deletion of selected lesson history while keeping the same account.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change. The effective date at the top will change when we do.
